Abstract

890,402. Two-part couplings; binding-posts. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 1, 1960 [April 14, 1959], No. 12657/59. Class 38 (1). A socket contact 1 comprises a one-piece strip bent to form two oppositely-facing U-shaped portions 2, 3, the common side 4 and the side 5 defining a resilient socket for receiving a pin and the sides 4 and 6 defining a cable-receiving portion, the cable being clamped against side 4 by a screw inserted in a threaded bore 7 in the side 6. Fig. 2 shows an insulating base for the contact, the sides thereof being received in slots 10 ... 13 in the walls of a slot 9, said walls and the sides 4, 6 forming a box for the cable. Fig. 4 shows a modified contact wherein the U- shaped cable-receiving portion 23 is located at right angles to the socket portion 22 and the two portions are connected by an integral bridge 24. The base 30, Fig. 5, for the contact has, in this case, an aperture 31 for the socket portion 22 and a T-shaped slot 32 for the portion 23.
