Abstract

790,687. Lamp-holders. ASHLEY ACCESSORIES, Ltd. Feb. 10, 1956 [March 1, 1955], No. 5969/55. Class 38 (1). A holder for one end of a double-ended bayonet-capped lamp comprises a hollow body 10 having a mounting boss 11 and in which is slidable a contact-carrier 12, interengaging guiding ribs and grooves 29a, 29 being provided on the body and carrier and outward movement of the latter being limited by screws 30a engaging grooves 30 therein. The contacts comprise plungers 13, 14 loaded by springs 17 which act between them and the rear face of body 10 and also serve to urge the carrier 12 outwardly of the body. Connection to the contacts is effected through strips 16 secured thereto and carrying at their other ends terminals which are slidable in slots in the boss 11. A shroud 31 is provided which, before insertion of the lamp, is slid over the end thereof and after the bayonet cap has been engaged with the carrier 12 with the pins 28 located in slots in the front face thereof, the shroud is slid over the body 10 to enclose the engaged contacts and retain the lamp in position. Guiding ribs and grooves 33, 32 are provided on the body and shroud, and an earthing contact, which engages the lamp cap, is secured to an earthing bar 23 engaged by the mounting screws 22. The Provisional Specification and Figures describe and illustrate a holder similar to the above except that the carrier is guided and retained in the body by screws carried by the carrier and engaging slots in the body.
