Abstract

1,270,165. Lampholders. UNDERWRITERS SAFETY DEVICE CO. 26 June, 1969 [26 Sept., 1968], No. 32287/69. Heading H2E. In a terminal block for a lamp, comprising a body 32 with front and rear covers 34, 44 respectively, a recess 56 within the body has partially circular walls (58) and contains a multiple-socket holder unit 64 with sockets 78, (80), having tapered contact surfaces 82 in registry with holes 38 in the front cover. A spring 74 biases the socket body forward and also provides an electrical connection with an external contact blade 50. Unit 64 also has partially circular sides and is free to move within a limited range inside the recess, such that if one end of a lamp has its axial pins angularly disposed to those at the other end, they can still be located with a fixed contact block, Figs. 1, 6 (not shown), at one end and this rotatable contact block at the other. Curved guide surfaces (92) 94 on each terminal block are provided to facilitate the location of the lamps in their holders. A plurality of the lamp holders may be provided in a single terminal block.
