Abstract

600,120. Lamp-holders. CANNING, P. D., HASLAM, A. G., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. Nov. 8, 1945, No. 29779. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for transversely inserted tubular lamps comprises housings 1, 2, the housing 1, shaped at 3 for the lamp, having an earthable spring clip 12 arranged to embrace and retain the lamp end and the housing 2 containing the terminal contacts 25. The clip 12 projects through opposed slots 4 in the housing 1, which is secured to the housing 2 to form a single unit. The housing 2 has a central pillar 13 which with pillars 20 defines channels 14 for the contacts 25. These contacts extend from terminals 23 grooved at 24 to slide between projections 15, 18. The pillars 20 have feet 22 which tension the contacts 25. A removable cover 26 with slots 27 is secured to the front of the housing 2. The housing is provided with a ledge 6 in which recesses 7 are provided for fixing the holder in position. According to the Provisional Specification, the contacts 25 may be bent over, and held in tension by one limb crossing the slots 27 and resting on projections on the central pillar 13.
