Abstract

496,019. Two-part couplings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 3, 1938, No. 6703. Convention date, March 3, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular lamp 6 comprises an insulating body 10 attached to a cap 24 and having a lateral slot 11 through which the lamp contact 35 is engaged with the holder contact 18 and a sleeve 29 that will slide over the lamp 6 during its insertion into the holder and can then be screwed into the cap 24 to retain the lamp in position. The contact 18 consists of a bent strip retained in a slot 12 in the body 10 by its terminal screw 17. The sleeve 29 has an insulating liner. Where a lamp cap having a recess 32 is to be used, an adapter comprising a press button 34 to enter the recess and a projecting contact 35 is employed. The adapter may be formed of a pair of discs 33, the edge of one being turned over the edge of the other.
