Abstract

483,067. Two-part couplings. DABSCHECK, W. July 4, 1936, No. 18621. Void. Convention date, July 5, 1935. [Class 38 (i)] A connector for portable electric apparatus is provided with an external earthing strip 2 at each side the strips being bent to form a contact surface 2a near the end of the connector, and the free end of the strips being concealed in cavities 16 in the body of the connector. The strips may be anchored in recesses 4, Fig. 1, bv a screw 8 that also connects the earthing lead 11 thereto. Alternatively the two strips may be formed from a single blank, being connected together by a crosspiece 18, Figs. 3 and 7, the fixing being effected either by a screw 22, Fig. 3, or by an end cap 29, Fig. 7, secured by a screw 31. In the latter form the body is not divided longitudinally and the leads 11, 36 enter through a disc 34 held by a cap 33 and having plugs that enter recesses in the shank of the socket contacts. In another modification the cap 29 has an externally threaded boss over which fits a screw cap to hold a bush through which the cable enters.
