Abstract
510,305. Two-part couplings. KRAMER, E. Nov. 18, 1938, No. 33573. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1937. [Class 38 (i)] In order to provide contact pressure between the plugs and sockets of a coupling the contacts of one element of the coupling are constrained to move laterally under resilient pressure without substantial variation of the pitch of the contacts. As shown, the plugs 3, 4 are mounted on cylinders 5. 6 that turn in the body 1 and are retained therein by a cover 2. The axes of the cylinders 5, 6 are displaced so that the tips of the plugs move along chords of the pitch circle. Arms 15, extending downwardly into cavities in the body 1. are pressed by springs 17, 18 to hold the plugs out of parallelism. Helical springs may be used. The leads 9, 10 may be attached directly to the cylinders 5, 6 or to brushes 51 engaging with the cylinders.
