Abstract

543,112. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and HAWKINS, F. J. Dec. 23, 1940, No. 18049. Addition to 536,273. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular discharge lamp having contacts 5 that are engaged by the pins 20 on the lamp 23 when it is inserted and turned through 90 degrees, the contacts 5 being thereby displaced into engagement with other contacts 6 connected to supply terminals A, C, as in the parent Specification is provided with an additional contact 21 similar to the contacts 6 and located between them in association with another terminal B. This terminal is connected to a condenser 28 in parallel with the lamp and its series choke 29. The resonant circuit including this condenser and the choke 25 is therefore closed only when the lamp is in the holder.
