Abstract
627,893. Lamp caps and holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 21, 1946, No. 1957. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1945. [Class 38 (i)] A holder 3 for a tubular lamp 1 with two pin contacts at each end, or, as shown, with single screw end-contacts 2, comprises a housing provided with an open end 10 through which the lamp-end is inserted to be received in a U- clip contact 11, open to the end 10, at which a housing wall is cut to provide a lamp-end positioning recess 22 behind which are normallyopen contacts 17, 18, which are bridged by a slidable member 14 which locks the lamp end in the holder, but is prevented by the contact 11 from closing the end 10 when no lamp is in place. The contacts 17, 18 are preferably in series with the primary of a supply transformer while the contacts 11 are connected to the secondary (Fig. 6, not shown). The Specification also describes a circuit using an autotransformer. The member 14 is provided with a shorting bar 19 and may be chained to the housing. Specification 627,556 is referred to.
