Abstract

630,143. Lamp-holders. MASON, G. R., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Nov. 5, 1946, No. 32857. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a double-ended fluorescent lamp 1 comprises a cylindrical insulating body 4 having sockets 5 for the lamp pins 3 and transversely-extending pins 6, or sockets, housed in a recess 10 in the end of the body and connected with the sockets 5, the said pins 6 or sockets engaging sockets 8, or pins, carried by a base 9 which may form part of a reflecting fitting 11. A skirt 7 on the body shrouds a lamp cap 2 and the holder is locked in the base-member by a pin 12 passing through the body and having notches 13 which engage spring means on the base. The co-operating contacts in the base member and the holder are loosely mounted to allow for normal variations in the length of the lamp.
