Abstract

639,186. Tubular lamp fittings. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 17, 1945, No. 20989. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1944. [Class 75 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL (a)] On a fitting 31 for a tubular electric lamp 1, Fig. 1, of a closed configuration, is mounted a holder 16 having in an insulating base a recess containing contacts for engaging the lamp terminals, so that the lamp is releasably mounted in the holder, and may be rotated as a whole with the terminals as pivots, into any desired angular position. The contacts 21, 22, Fig. 3, in the insulating base of the holder are U-shaped and engage co-axial terminals 10, 11 on the lamp ends 2, 3. The recess may be open on one side or closed by a spring biased cover 16. The holder has a projecting casing 27 to receive a lamp starter 28.
