Abstract

581,227. Lamp-holders. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., and ALDINGTON, J. N. Aug. 14, 1944, No. 15461. [Glass 38 (i)] A holder for a bi-pin cap of an electric lamp, especially a tubular lamp, comprises a plate 1 having a circular aperture 5 communicating with the edge of the plate by means of a slot 6, an insulating boss 9 co-axial with and projecting into the aperture and having a diametral slot 11, a pair of contact members 15, 16, one on each side of the boss, and springs 20 21 arranged adjacent to the contact members, adapted to press the pins into engagement with the contact members when the pins have been passed through the slots 6, 11 and rotated about the boss 9 until they are opposite the contacts. The contacts may be recessed into the boss or may lie on the surface thereof, as shown in Fig. 2, and they are connected at their lower ends to terminals 17. To allow the passage of the pins of the cap, the portions of the contact members crossing the space between the boss and the periphery of the aperture 5 are partially cut away. A stirrup 27, adapted to be swung over the lamp cap-when in position, may be provided.
