Abstract

558,017. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., and EDINBOROUGH, E. R. June 17, 1942, No. 8312. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular lamp has a socket 4 with oblique surfaces 6 to guide bayonet pins on the lamp into notches 5 in the socket which is mounted on a floating member 3 that telescopes within a housing 1 against the pressure of a spring 12. The member 3 also has rotational freedom limited by the engagement of a terminal block 19, when in place in the opening 20, with a gap 16 in the skirt 17 of the member. The contacts consist of plugs 9 in an insulating block 7 mounted on a pin 8, the leads 21 being secured in lateral holes in the plugs 9 by screws 10. A seating 23 is furnished with screw holes 24, whereby it may. be secured to a fitting. The springs in the holder at each end of the fitting serve also to mount the lamp resiliently. The terminal block may be passed through a rectangular hole in a reflector before securing the seating over the reflector.
