Abstract
492,913. Two-part couplings combined with switches. TUCKER, J. B. April 9, 1937, No. 10102. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp-holder is provided with a switch that is operable by hand to open and close the circuit when a lamp is in the holder but is controlled by the plunger contacts of the holder to prevent closing of the circuit when the lamp is removed. A sliding bar c, c<1> carries a loosely mounted member c<3> pressed down by a spring c<6> and supported on oblique tracks by means of insulated metal rollers c<2> at each side of the member c<3>. When the plungers d are lifted, as shown, by inserting a lamp b, the rollers c<2> pass over the pointed ends d<2> of the plungers and rest against the supply terminals e which are thereby connected to the plungers d. When the plungers are released by removing the lamp, the pointed ends d<2> drop to the level of the tracks and the rollers do not bridge between the plungers and the terminals e in any position of the bar c, c<1>.
