Transformers.-Potential transformers detachably mounted upon or arranged in connection with switchgear have a quick-acting switch arranged externally of the transformer so as to operate automatically on withdrawal of the transformer. Upon the terminal 11 of the transformer there is pivoted a blade 15 urged towards the terminal by a spring 16. When the transformer is moved to the right, the blade 15 engages a fixed contact 12<1>. Upon withdrawal of the transformer, the friction between the contact 12<1> and the blade causes the latter to pivot until it reaches the position shown in dotted lines, and then the spring 16 gives a quick-break action. The blade may be placed on the fixed terminal and the contact 12<1> on the transformer. Alternatively, a plugging connection may be used provided that a spring-retained plunger sliding in a sleeve is used to obtain a quick-break.
