[Class 38 (v)] When the contacts j, a first engage arcing-tips m, press apart arcing-tips e, further movement causing the main contact-part k to press apart the main contact-parts d and by further rotation of the latter about pivots c, separate the arcing tips. In opening the circuit, the reverse process takes place under the action of the spring f. Either contact-assembly may be the movable one.
