Abstract

531,281. Two-part couplings. WANDSWORTH ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and BATCHELOR, T. July 17, 1939, No. 20671. [Class 38 (i)] The live sockets 6 of a wall fitting 2 are covered by a T-shaped shutter 1 the stem of the T carrying a pivot pin 10 mounted in slots 9 in fixed lugs 3. A pin and slot connection 22, 21 links the shutter 1 with an operating plate 13 pivoted at 12 and having a cam surface projecting into the path of the earthing-pin 23. The upper part 15 of the plate 13 forms a stop that lies in the path of the shutter 1 and prevents lateral movement of the shutter until the latter is depressed by. the ends of the plug pins 24, and an auxiliary stop 17 then lies in the path of the shutter unless it is rocked on its pivot 17a on the plate 13 by the earthing-pin engaging the surface 18 on the stop 17. The movement of the shutter is effected by the earthpin 23 acting on the cam surface of the plate 13 and by the pins 24 acting on the inclined surface of the shutter. The parts are restored to their original position by springs 16, 20.
