Convention dates, June 8, 1934, and July 14, 1934. [Class 100 (iii)] Driving - mechanism.- Auxiliary means for controlling the starting and stopping of the machine are provided in a convenient position for use when the machine is employed for casting from hand-composed matrices. In one arrangement, the usual starting and stopping handlever b, Fig. 1, can be operated by a bellcrank lever p from a vertically movable rod n having an operating-knob o. The rod n may be locked in depressed position by a retractable spring pin q, which engages in a notch n<1>. The pin q can be locked out of action when the machine is required to perform only one cycle. In a modification, a horizontal auxiliary starting-rod u, Fig. 5, provided with a knob v<1>, acts on a lug E<2> on the known rotatable sleeve E that controls the driving-clutch. Means are provided for looking the rod u in its inner position when continuous operation of the machine is required.
