404,231. Type-bar-maldng machines. INTERTYPE CORPORATION, 360, Furman Street, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. July 25, 1933, No. 20950. Convention date, March 11. [Class 100 (iii).] Justifying matrices.-To enable lines to be justified either from right to left, or from left to right, or towards the middle of the mould, the justifying-bar is adapted to be tilted, so that it can be inclined in either direction or can occupy a horizontal position. The justifying-bar 4 is guided by means of a lug 9 and a cross-pin 10 in a frame 11, which is carried by the justificationrods 7, 8. The bar 4 may be tilted in either direction by a rod 12, which is pivoted to a sleeve 13 sliding on the justification-rod 7, and can be brought under either side of the lug 9, so as to tilt the bar 4 when the justification-rods rise. When in an intermediate position, the rod 12 engages with a pin 24 on the frame 11, so that the justifying-bar 4 remains horizontal. The rod 12 is shifted by a slide 22, connected to the hand-lever that effects the connection of one or the other or both of the vice-jaws to the jawclosing lever 3.
