Abstract

370,299. Type-bar-making machines. INTERTYPE CORPORATION, 360, Furman Street, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A. Aug. 6, 1931, No. 22285. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1930. [Class 100 (iii).] Magazines.-In machines having a shiftable column of magazines, which are disengageable from the escapements and have locking devices for retaining the matrices within the magazines that are not in working position, the locking devices are connected to, and operated by, the means for moving the magazine entrance away from the magazines. The magazine entrance 11 is rocked by means of a link 14 and hand-lever 15, to permit of the shifting of the magazine by means of a handle 10, which imparts a cycloidal motion to the column in known manner. The matrices can be locked in each magazine by a sliding rod 16, Fig. 3, which is guided so as to move towards and away from the matrices by inclines 17 and pins 18. When the rod is moved' inwards, so as to lie between the ears of the matrices, it is locked by the engagement of a spring-pressed member 19 with a notch in the rod. The movement of the rod into locking and unlocking positions is effected by inclines on a member 22 connected to the hand-lever 15.
