Relates to means for varying the width of certain of the magazine entrance-channels to adapt the entrance to the requirements of different founts of matrices having their tooth-combinations or projecting ears in different set-ways positions. In the arrangement described, the partitions of the entrance are in three groups D, E, F, Fig. 3, one of which is fixed. and the other two adjustable in opposite directions. The fixed partitions D are attached to the bottom-plate of the entrance, which consists of two spaced sections D<1>, D<2>, Fig. 1, between which are located two sliding plates E<1>, F<1> carrying the adjustable partitions. The plate E<1> is guided by ribs B<4>, Fig. 7. on the entrance frame, and the plate F' is seated in a recess in the plate E<1>, the plates E<1>, F' forming a continuous surface with the plates D<1>, D<2>. The fixed partitions are secured at their front edges to a keeper-plate D<5>, and the movable partitions to keeper-plates E<7>, F<6>. The movable partitions are adjusted by hand or automatically from the magazine-shifting means, for example, the plates E<1>, F<1> may be connected to the two arms of a lever G, so as to move in opposite directions, and the plate E<1> may be shifted by the action of gauge-pieces on the magazines or on the magazine shift-frame. The extent of movement of the movable partitions may be varied.
