Abstract
370,989. Type-bar-making machines. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd., 9, Kingsway, London, and FIELD, J. G. W., Linotype & Machinery Works, Altrincham, Cheshire. Jan. 15, 1931, No. 1453. [Class 100 (iii).] Distributing matrices. -In distributing-apparatus of the kind in which the matrices are divided into two groups by a primary distributor, those of one group engaging one distributor, whilst those of the other group fall into a shoot leading to a second distributor, improved means are provided for guiding the matrices. The rails 6, along which the matrices of the second group travel until they reach the shoot 7, are extended over and beyond the entrance to the shoot, and are formed in their inner faces with inclined grooves 6a leading to the mouth 7a of the shoot. The lower feed-screw 8a has its thread reduced both in width and in diameter for about one and a quarter convolutions, as shown in Fig. 3, to enable the upper matrix ears to pass.
