Abstract

264,671. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., and Field, J. G. W. Feb. 13, 1926. Distributing matrices.-Matrices falling from a single distributor 1, Fig. 2, are caused to enter either of two magazines 6, 7 having converging entrances 4, 5, by pivoted switches 11, which are controlled by grooves in the faces of the matrices, the grooves 8<a>, 9<a>, Figs. 5 and 6, being parallel to the edges of the matrices in one fount, and inclined in the other fount. The switches are e operated by weighted levers 13 having pins 14, which are engaged by the grooves in the matrices. The matrices having straight grooves leave the switches in the normal position, shown in Fig. 2, and the matrices with inclined grooves rock the switches so as to cause delivery of the matrices to the lower magazine.
