Abstract

243,236. Imray, O. Y., (Intertype Corporation). April 30, 1925. Matrices for type-bar-making machines are provided with fount-separating means in the form of grooves m<4>, Figs. 4, 5, and 6, which extend throughout the length of the matrices, and are of different width in different founts. one wall of the groove being notched or cut away so as to form permutations m<7>. The matrices may be used in connection with fount-separating mechanism of the kind described in Specification 241,815, in which the matrices, after distribution according to character, slide down a permuted rail 4, Fig. 7, from which they are released in position to fall into the proper magazine, the matrices being suspended at different levels owing to the varying width of their grooves, and being arrested in releasing position by shoulders 8 on the upper wall of the matrix-channel.
