Abstract

190,294. Hart, H., (Mergenthaler Linotype Co.). Oct. 11, 1921. Magazines and distributing-apparatus for type-bar-making machines. Means is provided for automatically adjusting the magazine-entrance and the distributor-bar endwise to bring them into proper register with the magazine-channels. The entrance C is pivoted to the main frame by arms C<2> which are movable axially of the pivots C<3> so as to permit endwise movement of the entrance. The adjustment is effected by gauge-pieces F, Fig. 4, carried by the magazines or magazine base-frames A<1>, and provided with bevelled surfaces F<2>, F<3>, F<4> on three sides. When the magazines are shifted or the entrance is moved into operative position, the gauge-piece on the magazine in use enters a notch or recess G<1> in an aligning-lug G secured to the entrance, which is thereby adjusted laterally. The distributor-bar is correspondingly adjusted by a similar gauge-piece H on the entrance, which engages a notch in an aligning- piece J on the distributor-bar, the bar being movable endwise on studs D<2>.
