[Class 100 (iii).] Ejecting type-bars.-An ejector adapted to co-operate with slugs of different thickness and width consists of a number of distinct sections of different effective thickness, each section being adjustable in width and being operable independently of the other sections. The operative section may be selected manually, or automatically under control of the moulds. The ejector shown in Figs. 2 and 7 consists of two distinct sections C, D mounted in a frame E which is laterally adjustable in a pocket A<5> in the mould slide A<4> and is engaged by springs A<6>. Section C consists of plain blades C<1>, and section D consists of alternate plain blades D<1>, and blades D<2> having flanges d for engaging the ribs of thick slugs. The frame E is adjusted by means of a hand-lever O to bring the blades of either section into engagement with lugs f<1> on a single set of operating slides F, any number of which can, as described in Specification 16622/10, [Class 100 (iii), Type making &c.], be coupled by means of a vertically adjustable bar G to the ejector slide B. The ejector may be adjusted automatically by the mould wheel A, the mould for casting a thick slug being provided with a cam for rocking a lever connected to the frame E.
