466,498. Stereotype. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd., BUGLER, A. V., and HAWKINS, A. G. Nov. 28, 1935, No. 32975. [Class 100 (ii)] Stereotype-casting apparatus is provided with means for accommodating a curved matrix a and a pouring-sheet e in a substantially vertical position, and with means for engaging either or both the matrix and pouring-sheet to prevent longitudinal movement during repeated casting. The longitudinal edges of the matrix and pouring-sheet are clamped between bars b, c, the bars b being provided with pins i engaging inclined slots k in the bars c and being movable by means of a handle g ; alternatively the pins i may be carried by rods slidable in the bars b so that the bars are not raised and lowered on actuation of the handle. Each bar b is provided at its upper end with a projection d adapted to engage in a recess f in the pouring-sheet. In order to prevent the restriction of the mould opening by the projections d, these projections may be formed on parts which are slidable relative to the bars b, the pins i carried by these parts being slidable in slots inclined at a different angle from that of the slots k.
