Abstract

442,544. Type-bar-making machines. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd., 9, Kingsway, London, and SCOTT, R. H., 5, Manor Way, Bush Hill Park, Enfield, Middlesex. Aug. 10, 1934, No. 23146. [Class 100 (iii)] Escapements.-In an escapement-locking device for preventing accidental actuation of the escapements during the removal or replacement of the magazine, a locking-bar mounted on the magazine is automatically moved edgewise into and out of active position as the magazine is removed from, and applied to, the machine frame. The locking- bar 8, Fig. 3, is secured at its ends to levers 9 pivoted on the escapement-bar 2, and is moved into active position by springs 11, so as to engage behind the plungers 6, Fig. 4, that actuate the escapements. The plungers are thereby locked when the magazine is removed. On replacement of the magazine, contact of the ends 12 of the levers 9 with the magazine-supporting member 7 withdraws the locking-bar.
