Abstract
375,783. Type-bar-making machines. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY, Ltd., 9, Kingsway, London, and GAYTER, E., Newlands, Walton Road, Altrincham, Cheshire. March 28, 1931, No. 9465. Addition to 349,134. [Class 100 (iii).] Assembling matrices.-The means described in the parent Specification for enabling the front plate of the assembling devices to be moved in its own plane, in order to give access to the star-wheel, are modified so that the plate may be moved to an intermediate position to permit of the removal of misplaced matrices. In one arrangement, the front plate 5, Fig. 1, receives a purely angular movement; and. is pivoted on a bolt 6 mounted in a stationary bracket 7, against which the plate is pressed by a spring surrounding the bolt. A stud 5b engages a recess in the bracket, to hold the plate in normal position. To permit of the extended movement of the plate necessary to give access to the star-wheel, the belt-shipper rod 12 is recessed to allow the end of the plate to pass. When the rod 12 cannot be recessed sufficiently, the bolt 6 is arranged to be movable vertically in a slot 13, Fig. 5, in the bracket 7. The slot terminates in circular portions, and 'the stem of the bolt is flattened to allow it to descend in the slot after a limited rotation.
