July 31, 1934, No. 22324. Addition to 393,587. [Class 100 (iii)] Distributing matrices.-In means for holding the spacer transfer-finger out of contact with the spacers during its forward stroke over them, the pivoted tumbler described in the parent Specification, for holding the transfer-finger in raised position, is dispensed with. In one arrangement, the transferchannel 1, Fig. 1, carries a pivoted rail 7, the free end of which rests on a pin 9 and has a downwardly inclined portion 7<a>. During its forward stroke, the transfer-finger 5 rides up the incline 7<a> and rests on the rail 7, falling behind the end spacer on reaching the end of the rail. In another arrangement, the finger 5, Fig. 2, is raised during the forward stroke by contact with the elevator-bar 18. The finger is held in raised position by a spring plunger 15, which engages a notch in a pin 19, pivoted to the finger and guided in its actuating-lever 6. The plunger 15 is pushed in by contact with the line transferslide 2, so as to release the pin 19 and to allow the finger 5 to fall.
