Convention date, June 12, 1933. [Class 100 (iii)] Escapements; keyboards.-In rnatrix-releasing mechanism in which a set of lift-rods can be shifted, in order to release matrices from either of two magazines, the lift-rods are adjusted by means of a pair of shift-rods, operated by keys of the keyboard and adapted to slide at their upper ends on oppositely directed inclined ways. The lift-rods 11 are mounted in a frame 12, which is pivoted at its lower end, so that their upper ends may rock into engagement with either of two sets of escapement-rods 6, 7, belonging to magazines 1, 2. The frame 12 is shifted by means of shift-rods 11a, 11<b>, which are mounted in the frame, and, like the lift-rods, are operated from keys through power-driven cam-yokes 16. The upper ends of the shift-rods are oppositely bevelled and engage with oppositely inclined cam-surfaces 22, 23, carried by a fixed member 10, so as to rock the frame 12 in one or the other direction. The frame 12 may contact with a cushion 26 to prevent it from moving freely.
