Abstract

429,332. Feeding webs. DECK, P., 101, Lutterbacherstrasse, Mulhouse, France. Nov. 8, 1934, No. 32072. [Class 100 (i)] [See also Group VIII] Fabric is fed in a slack state to the clip or pin chains of a tentering machine by pairs of endless bands i, k, Fig. 2, engaging the selvedges of the fabric and driven at a greater speed than that of the tenter chains. The upper band may be pressed lightly against the lower band by springs or by a weighted arm n. The speed of the bands may be adjusted so that the fabric may settle beneath the clip feelers in large or small waves and one pair of bands may be driven through a differential gearing by which the weft threads may be straightened. To subdivide the waves in the fabric into smaller waves, the clip feelers may be divided to produce gaps r, Fig. 9. The fabric passes to the bands from a feed roller o between adjustable tensioning rollers p, q. When feeding to pin chain tentering machines rotary brushes are provided to press the fabric on to the pins as it leaves the feeding bands.
