Abstract
804,329. Stripping unwanted material from cut blanks. WALKER (ENFIELD), Ltd., and WALKER, W. E. July 5, 1957 [July 20, 1956], No. 22522/56. Class 31 (1). A machine for stripping unwanted material from cut blanks comprises a pair of rollers 12, 13 between which the blanks are fed, the roller 12 having pins 21 secured thereon at locations such that the pins pierce unwanted material 22 of the blanks and the roller 13 having a covering 13<SP>1</SP> of wire brush to receive the pins, and a belt 23 of paper or other flexible material for removing the unwanted material from the pins. The belt is secured at its end to two bars 24 carried between a pair of endless chains 25 passing over gearwheels 26 at the ends of the roller 12 and of an auxiliary roller 27. The rollers 12, 27 have slots 16, 28 which receive the bars 24 as the belt 23 passes round the rollers 12, 27. The belt extends over only half the length of the chains 25 and has a length equal to the circumference of the roller 12; alternatively, the belt may extend over the entire length of the chains. A pattern sheet 20, Fig. 4, of paper or other flexible material capable of being penetrated by the pins is removably secured round the surface of the roller 12. The shafts of the rollers 12, 13, 27 are carried in a frame 18. To urge the wanted material of the blanks from the roller 12 and towards delivery means, the roller 12 is provided internally with pivotally-mounted L-shaped fingers 31 ends of which are secured to a shaft 33 carrying a roller 34 movable in a cam track 35 attached to the frame 18, the cam track being so arranged that as the leading edges of the wanted material leave the nip of the rollers 12 13, the other ends of the fingers are projected through apertures in the roller 12 and bhrough holes 36 in the pattern sheet 20 and in the belt 23 so as to force the wanted material away from the roller 12.
