Abstract
336,941. Waite, F., and Waite & Saville, Ltd. July 18, 1929. Rotary machines. - In machines comprising an endless table on which types are set, the table consists of plates or bars carried by chains and arranged to form a continuous surface for receiving the types. In the machine shown in the Figure, types 16 are set on an endless table running over a bed 15 and consisting of plates 2 secured to chains 3 passing over sprockets 4, one pair of sprcckets being geared to a shaft 9 driven by a motor 6. The plates are arranged in contact and have bevelled edges. Stationary guides for the types are arranged above the table. The types pass under inking-rollers 17 and print on a web passing over an impression roller 18. The web is led from a roll 19 and passes over the impression roller and guide rollers 20, 21, 21<a> to a winding-roller 21<b> which is frictionally coupled to a pulley 24 driven by one of the sprocket shafts 5. The roller 20 can be held back by means of a catch 20<c> actuated by a cam on a shaft 29<a> driven by one of the sprocket shafts 5. The duct roller 30 is driven by means of a sprocket 28 on the shaft 29<a>, a free-wheel device 51 enabling the duct roller to be rotated manually when the machine is at rest.
