Abstract

329,002. David, T. H., and Lawton, F. B. Jan. 9, 1929. Rotary machines.-In a machine for printing advertisements &c. on strips of paper or the like, types are set on an endless flexible band which travels continuously and causes the types to print successively on a travelling strip. In the machine shown in the Figure, types 4 are placed in order of composition on a flexible endless band 2 which travels over a table 6 and batween guides wand passes over rollers 3, 3<a>, 3<b>, the roller 3<b> being geared to a motor 23 and being provided with sprocketwheels co-operating with holes in the band. A strip 7 receiving the type impressions passes from a roll 8, under an impression roller 5 geared to the roller 3b, and over a roller 11 to a take-up roller 13 driven by a band 15. The types are inked by a roller 25b to which ink is supplied by means of rollers 25, 29<a> from a. duct, the roller 25 being connected by a belt or chain 24 to the shaft of the roller 5. The types preferably consist of wood blocks faced with rubber.
