If it be desired to print and fold a book form paper, duplicate plates will be'used, and where thus plated,'the following products can be printed-and folded. in book form, namely, two, four, six,'eight, ten, twelve and fourteen. pages. Where book form newspapers are beingproduced, it is necessary to I operate all of the perfecting units at full speed, sinceeach page length of the webs will result in a'completenewspaper, so that all of the constituent portions thereof-must i?- travel at the'same speed.

The combination of the class described, comprising three eight-page perfecting units mounted on frames on difi'erentlevels,thebottom and top units geared to operate at full speed, the middle unit geared to operate at full speed. and a slower speed, a supplement perfecting means having an area of only four plates geared to operate at full speed and a full speed cutting, collecting and folding de-' vices below sa1d former, supplement cutting means arranged between full speed webs which are associated above said former, said supplement cutting means geared to, operate at the same speed as the supplement perfecting means when, operating at the slower speed, an inserting means between said supplement cutting means and sa1d former, sa1d mechanisms being eflective to print and fold a newspaper starting with two pages, andincreasing by two pages, up to the full capacity of the printing machine, any or all of the above perfecting means, when in operation, having no 1dle plate or impresslon surfaces,
on any of the above combinations, at the option of the operator.

The combination of a former, a pair of, cutting cylinders back of said former geared to-operate at a reduced speed, one of the cylinders of the pair being equipped with cutting means, the other cylinder of the same pair being equipped with knife-cutting slot and sheet carry'ingpins; an inserting means 7 between said cutting cylinders and said former, said cylinders being further equipped with adjusting means adapted 'to move the said pair of cutting cylinders at the same said cylinders from said former.
