Rotary machines.-In mechanism for delivering sheets from a printing- machine 1 to the feeding table of the next machine, the sheet is transferred from fast-running grippers to slow-running grippers by an intermediate gripper-cylinder 18. From the impression cylinder 1 the sheets are taken by grippers 15 on endless chains 9 travelling at the same speed as the machine 1. The cylinder 18 travelling at a lower speed than the chains 9 transfers the sheets from the grippers 15 to grippers 22 - - 27 on endless chains 20 travelling at the speed of the cylinder 18, which deposit the sheets on a delivery table 43 or on the feedtable of the next machine. The chains 20 may be extended so that the feed-table and a delivery table can be arranged side by side and the sheets are delivered to either table as desired. The mechanism may be arranged to deliver the sheets with the printed face either upwards or downwards. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the cylinder 18 may be dispensed with and the sheets taken by the chains 20 directly from the chains 9. Also, instead of chains, gripper-cylinders taking the sheet directly from one another may be employed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Printing-apparatus combined with drying- apparatus.-The printed sheets are dried by jets of air from blowers 46 - - 48 arranged adjacent to the chains 9, 20. The shafts 13, 50, 51 of the rollers carrying the chains are made hollow with openings for directing air on to the sheets. Alternate blasts of hot and cold air may be employed.
