[Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii).] Rotary machines ; inking-apparatus ; feeding and registering webs.-In a rotary printing- machine of the kind in which the web is printed simultaneously with similar patterns on both sides by being passed between coacting printing rollers 3 which serve also as impression rollers one to the other, the material 8 is fed from a stack of folded material between guide bars 41, and is cleaned by carding rollers 30 which are driven in a direction opposite to the feed of the web. The web then passes around tensioning- bars 36 carried by arms 37 pivoted at their centre, and is passed over two rollers 28 formed of freely mounted sections which in the case of irregularly woven materials permit momentarily of unequal speed of different parts of the fabric. The bars 36 are fitted with adjustable checks 39 for regulating the lateral position of the web. The web is fed by a roller 22 to the printing- rollers 3 which are all driven by gearing 16 ..19 from a driving-motor 20. The rollers 3 are preferably constructed as described in Specification 375,771 with felt patterns attached to a rubber covering on rollers, and are adjustably mounted and fitted with inking-rollers 6 also adjustably mounted, which are of different size to prevent permanent indentation of the inking-rollers. The two rollers 6 of each printing-set are immersed in separate ink ducts 9, and each pair of ducts is supplied with ink from a common fountain 10, Fig. 4, arranged at the side of the main frame. The printed web passes over guide rollers 40 to a feed roller 24 which is driven at a speed slightly greater than that of the printing-rollers so as to maintain a tension on the web. The roller 24 is driven by a pulley 25 and a narrow belt 26 which slips on its pulleys if the driving strain exceeds a pre. determined limit. The web is finally delivered to form a folded stack 42.
