Rotary offset machines.-Rotary web offset printing-machines are constructed so that the web is maintained taut while it is passing between the printing-couple whether the members of the couple are in printing or tripped relationship, the means. for effecting this acting independently of the webfeed devices which pull the web from the reel or feed it to the folding and delivery apparatus. The web 7, Fig. 1, passes between offset cylinders 5, 6 receiving impressions from forme cylinders 15, and is kept taut by rollers 9, 10 mounted in spring-pressed arms 8, which press the web against fixed rollers 1, 2 arranged on opposite sides of the printing line and acting on opposite sides of the web. The arms 8 are pivoted coaxially with the rollers 1, 2, and may be acted on by weights instead of springs. In a modification, Fig. 2, the web 7 is kept taut by positivelydriven sectional rollers 18, 19, which are adjustable laterally so as to act on the margins of the printed web, and corresponding rollers 23, 24 mounted on spring-pressed arms. The rollers 18, 19 are driven at the speed of the printing-rollers by gears 21, 22.
