Cylinder machines. - A cylinder machine for printing in two colours on one side of a sheet, or for perfecting a sheet, is constructed with two oscillating impression cylinders A, B., Fig. 1, printing in conjunction with plates D<1>, D, respectively, and a transfer cylinder of twice the diameter which rotates constantly in the direction of the arrow 5, being driven from the bed. For printing in two colours a sheet is fed to cylinder A and is printed by plate D<1> as it moves from left to right. The cylinder A rotates for nearly two revolutions and on its second revolution the printed sheet is taken by grippers 3a on the cylin. der C and is carried around more than a complete revolution before being transferred to grippers 3<b> on cylinder B. Meanwhile the cylinder A has been raised from the bed and reversed for nearly two revolutions bringing it back to the position shown in Fig. 1. The cylinder A then rotates again in the forward direction printing a fresh sheet in conjunction with the plate D<1>, and the cylinder B which has movements in unison with cylinder A prints the second colour in conjunction with the plate D. The plates D, D' are inked respectively by rollers E, E<1>, and as shown in Fig. 1 the plate D<1> passes under the rollers E which are tripped out of contact with the plate D<1>. In a modification, the plates D, D<1>, pass only under their respective inking rollers so that no tripping is required, and in a further modification, an additional set of rollers is placed between the rollers A, B. For perfecting, an additional transfer cylinder F\ Fig. 5, is arranged between the cylinders C and B, and the cylinder B in this case prints the second impression on the reverse side of the sheet while the plate D' moves from right to left. The cylinder B is fitted with setoff preventing rollers 6, and the sheets are delivered by a delivery mechanism G, which may be applied to the other forms.
