Rotary offset machines. - A multicolour machine is constructed with an impression cylinder 1 coacting with two offset cylinders 2, 3, each provided with two or more offset surfaces 2<x>, 2<xx>, 3<x>, 3<xx>, which receive designs from similar plate-cylinders 4, 5, fitted with printing-plates 4<x>, 4<xx>, 5<x>, 5<xx>, each provided with separate iriking and damping rollers, which are tripped except when the appropriate plate is passing. The diameter of cylinder 1 is a. sub-multiple of that of the cylinders 2, 3. The sheets to be printed are fed by a feed-cylinder 6 to grippers 11 on cylinder 1, and the printed sheet is taken by grippers 12 on offset cylinder 3 and taken therefrom by grippers 13 on a cylinder 7 and transferred to grippers 18 of a chain 19. To perfect in two colours an offset blanket is fitted to cylinder 1, and sheets are fed to this cylinder on alternate revolutions. This sheet receives an impression on its underside transferred to cylinder 1 by the offset surfaces 2<x>, 3<x>, and its upper side is printed by the surfaces 2<xx>, 3<xx>. The cylinders may be arranged so as to be capable of receiving three printing-plates and offset surfaces, and by omitting some of these, the products obtained may be varied.
