Rotary intaglio machines; inking-apparatus. - A multi-colour rotary intaglio machine is constructed with at least one couple having an exchangeable forme cylinder so arranged that this couple can be reversed, whereby the machine may, for example, print perfected impressions on two webs, or may print one web on one side with one impression, and on the reversed side with three perfected impressions. The machine shown in Fig. 1 is constructed with four rotary printing- couples 4, 5; 8, 9; 12, 13; 16, 17, and, as arranged in Fig. 1, the cylinder 12 is arranged above an ink trough 23, and coacts with the right edge of a double scraper 26, and is rotated clockwise. Such arrangement of machine is adapted to perfect two webs 3, 31, the web 3 passing through the couple 4. 5 over a drying-drum 6 and cooling-drum 7, thence through a second couple 8, 9, drying-drum 10, and cooling-drum 11. The web 31 passes successively through the couple 12, 13 and 16, 17, and over similar drying and cooling drums. The frame 20 is provided with a bearing on either side, and by mounting the cylinder 12 in the left bearing over a second ink trough 24, the. cylinder can be reversed while coacting with an impression roller 25 and the left edge of scraper 26. The web 3, after being perfected by the couples 4, 5; 8, 9, is then printed twice on one side by the couples 12, 25; 16, 17, so that a three-colour impression is obtained on one side. In place of the double scraper 26, Fig. 1. a single scraper 26, Fig. 3, may be employed mounted on journals 29, which can be inserted through slots 30 in the parts 28 of two lateral bearing standards, so that the scraper 26 can assume the positions shown by full or dotted lines respectively.
