361,048. Printing-machines. HORN, J., 76, Zeunerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Sept. 19, 1930, No. 28040. [Class 100 (ii).] Rotary machines.-A multi-colour offset machine in which two or more sets of impression cylinders b, b<1>, offset cylinders c, c<1>, and plate cylinders d, d<1> are arranged in tandem, with a sheettransferring cylinder e connecting the impression cylinders, is constructed so that the cylinders rotate in such directions that the sheet fed from a table a passes between the cylinders b, e before receiving the first impression from the cylinders b, c. For multi-colour impressions the sheet is transferred from the cylinder e to the impression cylinder b<1> with the first impression on the outside of the sheet, and a superposed impression is printed by the cylinder c<1> before the sheet is taken by the delivery chains f. To produce a perfected impression, the cylinder b<1> is fitted with an offset blanket and the cylinder e with an impression blanket, so that the perfected impression is produced as the sheet passes between the cylinders e, b<1>. Each plate cylinder may be fitted with more than one printing- plate so that the sheets may be perfected in multicolour. The feed table may be arranged to feed the sheets direct to the cylinder b<1> when printing from one-half of the machine only, or the table may be arranged above the delivery table and feed direct to the cylinder e instead of to the cylinder b.
