Rotary offset machines.-A rotary offset machine is constructed with a plate cylinder c on which are fitted two or more printing-plates c<1>, c<2> each of which transfers identical impressions to an offset surface b<1> of an offset cylinder b coacting with an impression cylinder a. One sheet is fed to the cylinder a for each revolution, and for each revolution of the cylinder c two or more sheets are printed according to the number of plates on the cylinder c. For multi-colour printing two or more machines as shown may be arranged in tandem, and the sheets fed from one machine to another. In preparing the designs on the cylinder c, a design from one plate c<1> may be transferred to the plate c<2> in a fatty ink by using the roller b as a transfer roller, or by substituting a transfer roller for the roller b, or by feeding a sheet of transfer paper or other material to the roller b and bringing it into contact first with the plate c<1> and then with the plate c<2> on which the design is made ready for printing in the usual way. The transfer sheet may be fed to the cylinder a and designs transferred by the offset cylinder b to both plates c<1>, c<2>.
