[Class 100 (ii).] Rotary machines.-A rotary machine which is especially applicable for printing in multicolour from rubber relief plates by aniline inks is constructed with two separate couples D2, F ; D3, F, and with an impression cylinder D<1> coacting with two printing-cylinders, and the machine is adapted to print four colours on one side of a web, to perfect a web in two colours, or to print three colours on either side of a web and one on the reverse. When printing in four colours, Fig. 1, the main driving shaft A gears by means of intermediate gears Z1, Z2 with the impression cylinders D1, D2, D3, and the path of the web is indicated in Fig. 1. For printing one side in three colours, the cylinders D2 are driven in the same direction as in Fig. 1, but the cylinder D3 is driven in the reverse direction by means of an extra gear between the cylinder D3 and the driving shaft A. As shown in Fig. 3, both the cylinders D2, D3 are driven by gears Z2, Z4 in directions opposite to that of Fig. 1, and the web is perfected in two colours by being passed first through the lower couples D2, F, D3, F and then around the cylinder D1 ; alternatively the web may be led around the cylinder D1 before the cylinders D2, D3.
