Rotary machines; offset machines; intaglioplate printing.-Machines of the ' double-ender ' type, in which the web, after printing by one end of the cylinders, is transferred laterally and passed through the other end for perfecting or printing in a second colour, are provided with separate and independently-driven printing- cylinders placed co-axially end to end. Fig. 1 shows a diagrammatic plan, in which the web 4 is printed on one side by the cylinders 1, 2 and, after turning and transferring, is printed a second time by the co-axial cylinders 1<a>, 2<a>. The printing or plate cylinders, 1, 1<a> may be in intaglio. For printing in two colours, an ink trough 6 with a partition 7 may be employed for inking the cylinders 1, 1<a>. One or both units 1, 2 and 1<a>, 2<a> may be arranged for. offset printing. A single offset cylinder may be arranged to coact with the two printing-cylinders 1, 1<a> and the two impression cylinders 2, 2a, or two offset cylinders and a single impression cylinder may be employed.
