Rotary intaglio machines; printing-surfaces.- A rotary intaglio printing-machine for printing on both sides of a sheet or web comprises two printing-cylinders urged against each other with adjustable pressure, and between which the sheet or web is passed. The cylinders each comprise at least one sector carrying a printing plate, an arc provided with an engraved sheath, and under the plate or sheath is inserted an elastically yielding layer of felt, rubber, cork or synthetic material. Alternatively, cylinders carrying a sheath are secured on their spindles by means of radially acting springs, or one cylinder spindle may be elastically fitted with reference to the other cylinder.
