Abstract

1,023,072. Printing apparatus; set-off preventing. INCHBROOK PRINTERS Ltd. Aug. 10, 1962 [Aug. 28, 1961], No. 30973/61. Heading B6C. In a lithographic rotary offset printing machine in which sheets 46 of plastic material are printed, set-off is prevented by interleaving the printed pile 50 with sheets of paper 48 which have been fed through the machine alternately with the plastic sheets. The thickness of the paper is such that it does not receive an impression from the blanket cylinder 42 so that each plastic sheet is imprinted with an impression which has been inked twice. The interleaved pile 50 may be fed to other printing machines or couples if multi-impression and/or -colour printing is required. Two paper sheets may be passed in succession between the blanket and impression cylinders 42, 44 for each plastic sheet and in this case the image on the blanket is inked three times.
