Abstract

1298205 Printing apparatus NEW JERSEY MACHINE CORP 27 Nov 1969 [2 Dec 1968] 58014/69 Heading B6C To avoid errors in the printing of multiimpression labels 10, all of the matter which is to be printed on a label is printed from a single offset lithographic plate, divided into as many sections as there are impressions to be made. The printing press used may have separate inking rollers 33, 34 for each impression, and these may be tripped so that they contact only appropriate parts of the plate 25. Dampening solution may pass from dampening rollers 37 to moisture-carrying areas 27, 27<SP>1</SP>, 29 on the plate 25, and then be distributed by the inking rollers. Operation of the inking rollers 33, 34 and dampening rollers 37 is controlled by cams 39, 39<SP>1</SP>. As the plate cylinder 30 revolves images are transferred in succession to a smaller-diameter blanket cylinder 31, then impression cylinder 32 is tripped towards the blanket cylinder 31, and the superimposed images are printed on to label material 35.
