Abstract

1452002 Printing machines DE LA RUE GIORI SA 12 March 1974 [21 March 1973] 10903/74 Heading B6C A rotary printing press comprises two printing units 1 and 2. Printing unit 1 is an offset unit preferably having four plate cylinders 5, 6, 7 and 8 coacting with blanket cylinder 4, and impression roller 16. Printing unit 2 may have impression cylinder 18 and plate cylinder 19, the plates being gravure. Both impression rollers are separately adjustable. Between the two impression cylinders, means are provided for transferring paper from one to the other in registry. As shown, this is achieved by a pair of transfer cylinders 16 and 17, but conveyer chains may be utilized instead. The transfer means may also include a sheet or web turning device. The printing plates on rollers 5, 6, 7 and 8 may be letterpress. Drying unit 34 may be provided to dry the first impression before subjecting it to the second impression. Sub-frames 13, 29 carrying the inking systems 9, 10, 11, 23, 24, 25, 27 can be separated as units from the main frame 3.
